I am so confused on which one to buy...This is my first tablet. I am buying it as a christmas gift for my wife. She will mainly use it for internet and downloading movies to keep kids busy. I may use it as well eventually for more advanced options.

One things I am scarred of the Sony is battery life....is it truly bad?

The tablet that you choose in the end will mostly be based on your own personal needs.
A tablet that fits one person needs might not fit another person needs thus it is hard to say which tablet is best.
However in saying that I can still help you choose a tablet that fits your needs.

The Sony tablets s (I own one)
I Have found the Sony lags a lot on the internet which makes it a bad choice for streaming movies online, however you do have the playstation store and the Sony can play downloaded movies easily. The design of Sony tablet s makes the tablet easy to hold, and the tablet is extremely light.
The major issue with the Sony is the connection issues it will disconnected at random times, and usually has poor connection.

Note: The buttons on the PS tablet are annoying as the buttons are hard to push making the gameplay a little difficult.

One of the other tablets you are considering on buying is the galaxy.
The galaxy has nice resolution, and streams movies online without any lag However the galaxy has a major screen defect where an oily slick appears on the screen.
The galaxy lacks some of the fun features that the Sony offers such as the PS.

The last tablet on your list is the asus.
The asus is the fastest, and also has a keyboard dock which transforms it into a notebook, But the asus has major lag issues with playing movies online and off, and it's not as comfortable as the Sony or galaxy. The asus has the same problem as the galaxy tab it lacks the feature of the PS.

I have also tested the benchmark (quadrant) of these tablets
The Sony scored the lowest it got a score of 1800

    the galaxy scored a 2200

    and the asus got 1950

you are also wondering about the Battery life of the Sony.
I will charge up my Sony, and do a test on the battery I will then post the results.

    I have completed the test
the Sony tablet s battery will last 9:00 hours on heavy usage (watching movies) and 16 hours on medium usage.

Where in the world did you get the idea that the battery life was bad? It is as good or better than the comparable tablets on the market. I fully charged mine up and then used it continually for 3 1/2 hrs (including internet, reading, movies, etc.) and the battery was less then 1/2 drained. This is an excellent tablets and gets great reviews across the board. I suggest that BJ's connection issues might not be the fault of the tablet. I have had no connection issues with my Sony S. Also I have watched movies on Crackle, which streamed just fine.
