Simplifying Digital Signage

The digital out of home industry (Dooh) is quagmire of technical expressions, complicated business strategies and hardware challenges often involving multi-discipline teams of software engineers, networking specialists, AV engineers and advertisers.

All this can make embarking in digital signage a complete headache and also invoke large set-up costs, the return on which may never be forthcoming.

And the problem is amplified when you start thinking about outdoor digital signage when the costs of waterproof or outdoor screens are taken into account making it all a highly expensive prospect.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. While many digital signage projects are left to the experts, some users choose to embark on their own – and it is not as hard as you think.

There are many budget options available for digital signage that requires little or no expertise to enable it to function. Digital posters are one such solution. These indoor screens have everything required to run a simple campaign: The screen, digital signage housing, and a media player where content can be uploaded.

These turn-key solutions are easily erected on walls and are ready to upload content and used – pretty much straight out of the box.

Even the heady world of outdoor digital signage can be made simpler. Rather than investing in an expensive outdoor screen, a standard device can be taken outdoors, no matter what the weather, as long as it is well enough protected.

LCD enclosures are commonly used to protect screens from weather and temperature extremes present in outdoor locations. They can house almost any type of standard or commercial screen and keep it protected from almost any conditions: snow, rain, wind, hail and airborne dust are all kept out of the enclosure ensuring the screen can operate without problems.

There is often room for a small PC or media player in these LCD enclosures too so you can keep the content uploading device out of the elements too.
